Wolfburn – Cask Strength

Wolfburn Cask Strength comes from Wolfburn distillery in Thurso, the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland. The whisky is just over seven years old and was matured in a pairing of Oloroso sherry casks and ex-bourbon quarter casks. It is bottled at cask strength. The nose pairs fresh bourbon notes with sweet sherry, with a hint of toffee and caramel. On the palate, chocolate truffle meets sticky toffee pudding and trifle sponge, with gentle peat smoke over the top. The finish brings caramel sweetness, toffee and Demerara sugar, and a trace of peat smoke lingers to the end.
