Wolfburn – Northland (70cl, 46%)

Wolfburn Northland is a single malt from Wolfburn, the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland, bottled at 46% ABV. It follows the First General Release, the distillery's first official single malt, and spent three years in small ex-Islay quarter casks, which bring more wood contact to speed up maturation. The nose is sweet and fruity with citrus, followed by malt and some smoke. The palate is well balanced, nutty and sweet with honey and grapes, and coffee, a little caramel and chocolate behind. The finish is medium in length, with light honey sweetness and smoky touches.
