Wolfburn – Small Batch 416 10 Years 1st Fill Ruby Port Pipes (46%)

Wolfburn Small Batch 416 is a 10-year-old single malt from the Wolfburn distillery in Thurso, the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland. It is bottled at 46% and matured entirely in first-fill Ruby Port pipes from a winery in Portugal's Douro Valley. Only 3,900 bottles were produced, and the whisky is non-chill-filtered and free of added colouring. The nose combines ruby port with a little sea salt, then dried fruit: raisins, dark cherries and sultanas. The palate opens with rich caramel and soft vanilla, followed by gentle oak smoke, dates and figs. The finish is long and warming, with caramel and dried fruit.
