Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select is a Kentucky straight bourbon, on the market since 1996. The mash bill is 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley, fermented for six days with the distillery's own yeast strain.
It is distilled in three copper pot stills and filled into casks at 110 proof (55% ABV). The staves for those casks are left to weather outdoors for nine months, and the casks are ordered from Brown-Forman's own cooperage.
The nose brings toasted oak, orange peel and sweet spice with vanilla and caramel. The palate is full, with toffee, cocoa, honey, cinnamon and a touch of black pepper. The finish is long and warm, dry and spicy.
