Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Malt Whiskey is made from a mash of 51% malted barley, 47% corn and 2% rye, and aged in new charred oak barrels. That sets it apart from a typical all-malt whiskey, and it is aimed at bourbon drinkers. This is the Christmas Edition, in a 70cl bottle at 45.2% ABV.
The nose is soft and nutty, with light caramel and milk chocolate over apple, dried fruit and tropical fruit. On the palate, dark chocolate and caramel-coated nuts meet cocoa, brown spice and toasted coconut. The finish is nutty, with subtly sweet chocolate malt.
