Yamazaki 12 Year Old is a Japanese single malt from Suntory, made at what is described as Japan's first and oldest malt distillery. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle and is the flagship of the Yamazaki range.
This 12 year old first came onto the market in 1984 and was the first seriously marketed Japanese single malt whisky. It has since built a cult following.
It is smooth and soft, with good sweetness and winter spice. A citrus note develops, along with tropical fruit and a little rum.
