Yamazaki – 18 Year Old Mizunara Cask 100th Anniversary (48%)

This is an 18 year old single malt from Yamazaki, released to mark the distillery's 100th anniversary. It is a limited edition of 2000 bottles, bottled at 48%. The whisky matured entirely in Mizunara casks, made from Japanese oak, which add spiced and fruity notes. Yamazaki was founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii and is Japan's first malt whisky distillery. The nose has dark cherry and ripe peach with cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate is delicately spiced, with orangette and undertones of Japanese incense. The finish is long, with clove, sandalwood and a touch of dried coconut.
