Yamazaki Islay Peated is a limited single malt from the 2024 Tsukuriwake Selection, a series that treats the level of peat as a variable in its own right. Here Islay peat meets the sweetness of the Yamazaki distillery, which Shinjiro Torii founded near Kyoto in 1923. It was bottled in 2024 at 48% in a 70cl bottle. The nose offers gentle peat smoke with a touch of biscuit. The palate is smooth and sweet, like brown sugar, with bitter orange. The finish is warm and sweetly smoky, fading slowly.
