Yamazaki Limited Edition 2021 is a single malt from the Yamazaki Distillery near Osaka, which the notes describe as Japan's oldest malt whisky distillery. It is made from malts aged for over 12 years in new Mizunara oak casks and bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The label is made from Echizen washi paper with a burnt stamp design.
The nose combines pineapple and orange with nutmeg and a gentle spice from the Mizunara. On the palate, honey and coconut cream are balanced by blueberry and vanilla, before ginger and a light smokiness emerge. The finish is long, with vanilla, fresh ginger and a delicate smokiness.
