Yamazaki – Mizunara 2012

Yamazaki Mizunara 2012 is a Japanese whisky from the Yamazaki distillery, released at the end of 2012 and widely anticipated at the time. It is matured in Mizunara, Japanese oak. Mizunara is a wood whose structure tends to leak, which makes casks made from it costly. The whisky is described as quite different from other oak-aged whiskies. The nose brings coconut, mango and passion fruit. On the palate there is nectar, coconut and a range of spices, with hints of fresh new wood and sandalwood. It is described as refreshing, balanced and smooth.
