Yamazakura 16 Year Old is a Japanese whisky made by Sasanokawa Shuzo. It is a blend of malt and grain whiskies, aged for sixteen years.
The components first mature in ex-bourbon barrels. They are then married and returned to ex-bourbon barrels for further maturation.
The nose is sweet, with vanilla, anise, toffee, marzipan and a lightly nutty, slightly burnt note. The palate starts gently and turns fruity and sweet, with anise, caramel and sweet spice. The finish is medium in length, floral and sweet, with caramel and a faint burnt edge.
