Yamazakura Blended is a 16 year old Japanese blended whisky from Sasanokawa Shuzo, a distillery also known in Japan for sake and shochu. It is made from a mix of corn (80%) and wheat (20%) and matured in American oak casks that previously held bourbon. The name joins the Japanese words for mountain and cherry.
On the nose there is fresh citrus, vanilla and coconut, with light toasted notes, soft spice and a hint of liquorice root. The palate follows the nose, with citrus, coconut and spice, and is rich and intense.
