Yellow Spot 12 Year Old is a single pot still Irish whiskey from the Midleton Distillery, produced under the stewardship of the Mitchell family. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The name comes from the old practice of marking casks with coloured spots to show their age.
The whiskey matures in ex-bourbon, sherry and Malaga wine casks, and its mash combines malted and unmalted barley.
The nose is bright with orchard fruit, honey and toasted oak, with subtle floral hints. The palate offers ripe apple, vanilla, malt and gentle spice, and the finish is long and warming, with lingering sweetness and delicate oak.
