1792 Sweet Wheat is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon from Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, bottled at 91.2 proof (45.6% ABV). Wheat takes the place of rye as the secondary grain, alongside corn and malted barley.
It is aged for approximately six to eight years in new charred American oak. This is an annual release, introduced in 2015.
The nose is honey, vanilla bean, baked apple and fresh oak, with peach cobbler, peanut brittle and a touch of cream cheese icing. The palate is creamy and buttery, with vanilla custard, soft toffee, sweet corn, toasted almond and gentle cinnamon. The finish is long and warming, slightly drying, with toffee and oak.
