Thomas S. Moore Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Cognac Casks (75cl, 46.7%)

This Kentucky straight bourbon comes from Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, part of the Sazerac Company. It starts as Barton's high rye bourbon, aged five to six years in new charred oak, and is then moved into French Cognac casks that held cognac for six years or more. The bourbon stays in those casks for roughly two to four years. It was released in March 2022 as one of four finishes in the second Thomas S. Moore collection, alongside Madeira, Sherry and Merlot, and is bottled at 46.7% (93.4 proof). The nose offers bright citrus, orange oils and berries with herbal notes, jasmine and lavender. On the palate come orange and marmalade, apricot and vanilla.
