1845 Preemption Texas Straight Bourbon (70cl, 50%)

Preemption is the signature Texas straight bourbon from 1845 Distilling Co., bottled at 50% (100 proof) in a 70cl bottle. It is a rye-based bourbon, aged for a minimum of three years. The mash bill is 74% yellow corn, 16% Elbon rye and 10% malted barley, all of it grown in Texas. It was one of three finalists for Best of Class Straight Bourbon at the 2023 San Francisco Spirits Competition. The nose has caramel, cherry cola, vanilla and oak with floral notes. The palate brings black tea with cinnamon, dark fruit with citrus and rounded tannins. The finish is long and soft, with rounded wood notes.
