This is a 21 year old blended Scotch whisky from Ballantine's, from a bottling of the 1990s.
It is a smooth, easy-drinking blend. An older bottle can show a slight musty newspaper note on the nose, alongside barley, hay and the nutty scent of oatmeal chocolate, with watermelon rind, cucumber and ripe red apple.
The palate is nutty, with chocolate and oatmeal, firm sweetness from persimmon and jujube, and wheat. The finish is woody and short, with cool gourd notes and a lingering taste of sweet and bitter dark chocolate.
