A.D. Laws Four Grain Bourbon is a Colorado bourbon from the A.D. Laws Distillery in Denver, bottled at 47.5% ABV in a 75cl bottle. The mashbill is 60% corn, 20% heirloom wheat, 10% heirloom rye and 10% heirloom malted barley.
It is distilled twice and fermented as an open-air sour mash using ambient Colorado yeasts. It matures for a minimum of three years in new American white oak.
The nose opens with earthy hay and dried apricot, then cherry, dates and dried banana over vanilla, cinnamon and honey. The palate is dry and leathery, with apricot and oak, then black pepper, breakfast tea, tobacco and spice. The finish is smooth and creamy, with orange.
