A.D. Laws Four Grain Straight Bourbon is a Colorado bourbon made from corn, wheat, barley and rye grown on two family farms. The mash bill is 60% corn, 20% heirloom wheat, 10% heirloom rye and 10% heirloom malted barley, cooked in a labour-intensive way and fermented by open-air sour mash.
It matured for three years or more in new 53-gallon charred oak barrels in a high-elevation climate. Orange blossom, black tea, honey and dusty pepper lead the nose. The palate brings pekoe tea, orange peel, cinnamon and vanilla custard, with hints of sweet tobacco and spice running into a rich, dry finish.
