A.D. Rattray Cask Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 46%)

This is an Islay single malt from independent bottler A.D. Rattray, part of its Casks of Scotland collection. It is a vatting of up to around twenty casks from a single Islay distillery that is not named. Everything was matured in bourbon casks, then bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with natural colour. The nose is peat smoke, beach-fire embers and grilled lemon, with a little mineral and saline note. The palate is oily and full-bodied, with butter tablet, malted barley, roasted peanuts, citrus, toffee and sweet peat. The finish is long, with light ash, pipe tobacco, sea salt and lingering smoke.
