A Legendary Speyside 28 Year Old 1998/2026 Old Particular Douglas Laing World Cup Edition Bourbon Cask

This is a limited single malt from an unnamed Speyside distillery, bottled by Douglas Laing under its Old Particular label as a World Cup edition. It was distilled in 1998, the last year Scotland took part in the World Cup before this edition, and matured for 28 years in an ex-American bourbon cask. It is offered as a tribute to faith, perseverance and national pride. The nose opens with dried apricots and jam, then sugar-dusted cereal and creamy custard. The palate is rich, with buttery pastry, raspberry jam and a warming hint of cinnamon. The finish is long, with vanilla sponge, hazelnut praline and lingering baking spices.
