A. Overholt Monongahela Mash is a straight rye whiskey bottled at 47.5% ABV (95 proof), in a 75cl bottle. The brand traces its roots to 1810 and the Pennsylvania rye tradition of the Monongahela region. This version is distilled, aged and bottled in Kentucky by Beam Suntory.
The mash bill is 80% rye and 20% malted barley, with no corn, following the historic formula.
The nose brings sweet rye bread, molasses, baking spice and raisins. The palate is medium to full in body, with caraway and rye crust, and the finish is long, warm and peppery.
