Aberfeldy 12 Year Old is a Highland single malt from the Aberfeldy Distillery, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery was founded in 1896 by the sons of John Dewar, and its water comes from the Pitilie Burn.
The spirit is distilled in tall pot stills and fermented for a long time in larch washbacks. It is matured for at least twelve years in ex-bourbon barrels, along with sherry and refill casks.
The nose is dried heather and honeyed orchard fruit. Syrupy honey, caramel and baked apple lead the palate, and the finish is medium, with gentle sweetness and soft oak.
