This is Aberlour 10 Year Old, a Speyside single malt from the distillery in the small Moray town of Aberlour, near the rivers Lour and Spey. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle, in an older style of bottling, and comes in a tin tube.
The nose brings bright citrus zest, ripe red berries and dried apricot, with hints of cinnamon, clove and toasted oak. On the palate there is honeyed vanilla, warm baked apple, a little dark chocolate and a whisper of ginger spice, with a creamy, mouth-coating texture. The finish is medium to long and silky, with spiced honey and a delicate touch of oak.
