Aberlour 14 Years Old Double Cask Matured is a Speyside single malt aged for a minimum of 14 years in American oak and Oloroso sherry casks. The American oak adds vanilla and a creamy texture, while the Oloroso casks bring black fruit, spice and depth. The distillery uses water from the Birkenbush springs and barley from local Speyside growers. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is cassis and ripe blackberry with sweet vanilla, honey and red apple. The palate is round and soft, with cassis jam, blackberries, creamy caramel and gentle spice. The finish is long and fruity, with black fruit, caramel, vanilla and soft spice.
