Akashi White Oak Blended Whisky (50cl, 40%)

Akashi White Oak is a Japanese blended whisky, made at the White Oak distillery in Akashi, in Hyogo prefecture, and sold in a 50cl bottle at 40% ABV. It is made by a Toji, a master of sake brewing, who applies sake-making methods to whisky. The pot still is smaller than those used in Scottish and other Japanese distilleries, which lowers the level of fusel alcohol. The whisky is aged in ex-bourbon casks and finished in ex-sherry casks. The distillery runs for only a month or two each year. It is described as an easy-drinking blend with chocolate, honey and fruit flavours.
