Alness 12 is a blended malt from Thompson Bros. of Dornoch. It brings together Dalmore, described as the firmer, peated element, and the grassy character of Teaninich.
The whisky matured for twelve years in refill hogsheads and first-fill barrels, and was bottled in Dornoch in February 2026. The label shows a stag-and-fish creature.
The nose offers ripe banana, mandarin peel, honey and green herbs, with a light drift of peat smoke. The palate is creamy, with vanilla yoghurt and coconut alongside kiwi and apple, balanced by oak spice and a little smoke. The finish is long, with light fruit, gentle wood spice and a faint smoky note.
