Amrut – 2009 Single Cask #3448 European Exclusive (70cl, 62.8%)

This is a single cask Amrut single malt from India, bottled exclusively for Europe at a cask strength of 62.8% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky comes from 2009. It matured in new American oak casks and was then finished in a first-fill bourbon cask, which adds further depth. The result is a single malt described as sweet, buttery and pleasingly oaky. Amrut is based in Bangalore, where the high altitude and warm climate speed up maturation compared with Scotland, and the distillery uses Indian barley grown near the Himalayas.
