Amrut – Naarangi Batch 5 (2018) (70cl, 50%)

Naarangi is a whisky from Amrut of Bangalore, India, in its fifth batch and bottled at 50% ABV. The name is Hindi for 'orange', and the whisky takes it from an ex-oloroso sherry cask that was seasoned with wine and orange peel for three years. A three-year-old whisky was then finished in that cask for a further three years, which brings extra orange character. The nose offers toasted oak, orange peel, rich sherry, chocolate, mint, cinnamon and nutmeg. On the palate there is chocolate and cinnamon, with an orange-cake note, oak, black pepper and ginger. The finish is very long, oily and led by cinnamon.
