A single cask Amrut single malt from India, matured in a bourbon cask and bottled in 2015 for La Maison du Whisky as part of the Bourbon Cask Series. It is bottled at 62.8% ABV in a 70cl bottle, and 224 bottles were filled.
Amrut uses Indian barley from the Punjab and distils in Bangalore at 3000ft. This cask shows malted barley alongside the oak.
The nose is fruity with pear and plum, plus vanilla and delicate peat. The palate opens smoky and peppery, with a touch of salt, then fresh-cut grass, cumin, ginger and candied grapefruit and lemon. The finish is long and powerful, with smoke, grapefruit, liquorice, artichoke heart and earth.
