Angel's Envy – 2019 Cask Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon Port Finish (75cl, 61.2%)

Angel's Envy 2019 Cask Strength is the annual cask strength release from the Louisville distillery: a Kentucky straight bourbon finished in Portuguese Port wine casks and bottled undiluted at 122.4 proof (61.2%). Just over 14,000 bottles were produced. The programme began in 2012, when Lincoln Henderson, his son Wes and grandson Kyle selected the first barrels. The mash bill is 72 percent corn, 18 percent rye and 10 percent malted barley, and the base bourbon is four to six years old. The nose has honey on a biscuit, vanilla extract, brown banana, Bing cherries and caramelised figs. The palate brings dark chocolate and plum over toffee, butterscotch and cinnamon, and the finish is long and warming.
