Angel's Envy Bourbon (70cl, 43.3%)

Angel's Envy is a straight bourbon from Louisville, Kentucky, bottled at 43.3% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. The whiskey typically spends four to six years in new, charred American white oak, then is blended and moved into Portuguese port casks for a finish of up to six months. Master distiller Lincoln Henderson brought the Scotch idea of finishing in former wine casks to bourbon. The nose is a quiet vanilla with raisins, maple syrup and roasted nuts. On the palate, vanilla meets ripe fruit and maple syrup, with toast and bitter chocolate adding a dry, roasted contrast. The finish stays sweet, with a faint Madeira note fading slowly.
