This is Ardbeg's 10 year old Islay single malt, bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration. It is a heavily peated whisky, amber-yellow in the glass.
The nose is peaty and iodine-led, with vanilla and citrus. Water brings out oceanic minerality, brine, lime and beeswax. The palate opens with a burst of peat, then vanilla sweetness, barbecued meat, lime, black pepper and cinnamon. The finish is long and smoky, with citrus peel, toasted almonds, malt and pear.
