Ardbeg – 10 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

Ardbeg 10 Year Old is a peated Islay single malt, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks. Ardbeg stands on the southern coast of Islay and was founded in 1815. The malt is made with local Islay peat, which gives this bottling its smoky character. On the nose there is peat smoke, salty sea spray, lemon zest and charcoal. The palate is viscous, with smoked malt, scorched oak, espresso, black pepper and an underlying sweetness of aniseed and vanilla. The finish is long, drying and smoky, with peat embers, citrus and black pepper.
