This is a 16-year-old Ardbeg, an Islay single malt distilled in 1991 and bottled in 2007 by Douglas Laing in its Old Malt Cask series as DL 3719. It comes from a single bourbon cask that was finished in a rum cask, and 346 bottles were produced. The nose is peat smoke and sea salt with iodine and ash, then raisin, fig, cocoa, vanilla, toffee and citrus zest. The palate is briny and medicinal, with dark chocolate, espresso and treacle in a full, oily texture. The finish is long, with maritime peat, smoke and a drying wave of ash.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
