This is Ardbeg Traigh Bhan Batch 5, a 19 year old Islay single malt named after the bay of Traigh Bhan and its Singing Sands.
It was distilled on 12 February 2004 and matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. It was bottled in May 2023 at 46.2% ABV without chill-filtration.
The nose brings ripe guava, juicy mango and green pepper, with crisp bacon glazed in maple syrup. The palate has soot, dried heather and aniseed, with smoky bacon and maple sweetness. The finish is long, with dark toffee and a light trace of smoke.
