Ardbeg 1975 is a single cask single malt from Islay, distilled in 1975 and bottled in 1999 at 43% ABV. It is pale gold in colour.
The nose is dry and sooty, with coal, fresh butter, burnt paper and walnuts alongside bitter orange and tar. On the palate there is plenty of smoke, with herbs, nuts, tar and liquorice, plus brine and marzipan. The finish is long, salty and smoky, with a briny edge and some lemon marmalade.
