This is a limited vintage edition of Ardbeg from 1978, a single malt from Islay in Scotland. The whisky is a pale gold colour. The nose is dry, sooty and medicinal, with coal, fresh butter, burnt paper and fresh walnuts. The mouthfeel is full and the palate zesty, with a great deal of smoke, herbs, nuts, liquorice, a little pine sap and cough drops. The finish brings lemon marmalade and more smoke.
