This is an Ardbeg single malt distilled on 24 May 2007 and bottled in 2015 at eight years old by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, as cask 33.132 in its Beauty and the Beast series. It was matured in a second-fill ex-sherry butt and bottled at 60.9% ABV, giving 624 bottles.
The nose pairs sweetness and smoke: cooked and dried fruit, raisin and treacle alongside charcoal, kippery peat and coal gas, then honey, vanilla and milk chocolate. The palate is oily and intensely smoky, with stewed fruit, dates, lemon oil, iodine and sea spray. The finish is long and smoky, with peat ash, tobacco and dark chocolate.
