This is an 8 year old Islay single malt from Ardbeg, issued as a Committee Release in July 2021 for members of the Ardbeg Committee. It was matured in ex-sherry casks and bottled at 50.8% ABV, non-chill-filtered and without added colouring.
The nose is intense, with charcoal, tar and treacle toffee, some vegetal notes of fennel, celery and green pepper, then milk chocolate, aniseed and wood smoke. The palate is peppery and tingling, with treacle toffee, aniseed, salted caramel chocolate, eucalyptus, menthol and briar wood, moving towards charcoal, smoked bacon, burnt toast and tar. The finish is long, with a hint of peppermint and clove.
