Ardbeg 'Alligator' is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky, a general release from 2011 bottled by the distillery at 51.2% ABV. It is gold in colour.
The nose recalls older Ardbeg, with seaweed, fresh herbs, rhubarb, orange, damp earth, clay, liquorice and marzipan. With water it turns more coastal, with oyster, clams and whelks. The palate brings grapefruit, cider apples, brine, pepper, chilli and mustard, with a sweet, creamy apple liqueur note. The finish is quite long and dry, with bitter chocolate and coffee beans.
