Ardbeg An Oa is an Islay single malt from Scotland, bottled at 46.6% ABV. It is made from whisky matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, charred virgin oak and ex-bourbon casks, which are married together in a French oak vat.
The nose brings peat, creamy honey and salted liquorice, with cough syrup, vanilla, toasted nuts and pine needles over a faint, restrained smoke. On the palate there is peat, ash, honey, vanilla and cinnamon sugar, with a little chocolate and lemon pepper and a rich, velvety texture. The finish is long and smooth, with sweetness, oak spice, toasted nuts and lingering smoky treacle.
