Ardbog is an Islay single malt from Ardbeg, released for Ardbeg Day in 2013 at 52.1% ABV. It is matured in ex-sherry casks and bottled without chill filtration.
Peat leads, with an earthy, bog-like depth, and the sherry casks add dark sweetness and dried fruit.
The nose is bold peat smoke with salt spray, brine and damp wood around toffee, dark chocolate and dried fruit. On the palate, smoky peat gives way to a creamy middle with treacle toffee, raisins, figs and spiced fruitcake. The finish is long and warming, with dry oak, ash, and fading cinnamon and clove.
