Ardcore Punktured is a limited edition Ardbeg single malt, bottled at 46% without chill-filtration. It was aged for nearly 10 years in mostly first-fill and some second-fill ex-bourbon barrels.
The mash bill is 75% distilling malt and 25% black malt, roasted to the extreme, and it is the malt that gives the whisky its profile.
The nose brings charcoal and sweet smoke, with moderate peat, sweet corn and iodine. The palate is sweet and oily with a savoury edge of roasted peanuts, and the finish is peppery with salty liquorice and char.
