Ardbeg – Corryvreckan (70cl, 57.1%)

Ardbeg Corryvreckan is an Islay single malt bottled at 57.1% in a 70cl bottle. It takes its name from the famous whirlpool north of Islay, and its flavours are said to swirl through the mouth much like it. The colour is pale straw gold. The nose begins with smoke that gives way to chocolate and blackcurrant, then a salty note, with faint mint and spice at the end. The palate opens with pepper and smoke, followed by fruit and a light violet note. The finish is long and smoky, with coffee and chocolate, and a hint of cherry and berries.
