Ardbeg – Corryvreckan (70cl, 57.1%)

Ardbeg Corryvreckan is an Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle, named after the whirlpool in the Gulf of Corryvreckan to the north of the island. It is a vatting of whiskies matured in bourbon casks and French oak casks, bottled at 57.1% abv without chill-filtration. The French oak adds dark fruit and spice to Ardbeg's peat. The nose is intensely peaty, with tar, blackcurrant, black pepper and a note of pine. The palate is powerful and dense, with smoke, dark fruit, bitter chocolate and spice. The finish is very long, with peat, pepper and espresso.
