This is Ardbeg Drum, a limited-edition Islay single malt released for Ardbeg Day during Fèis Ìle 2019, the island's annual festival.
The whisky was matured in ex-bourbon casks and then rested in ex-rum casks, which pairs the distillery's smoke with tropical sweetness.
The nose combines ripe banana, pineapple, cocoa and woodsmoke, with hints of fresh ginger, cinnamon and lavender. On the palate come black pepper, ginger, clove and liquorice, together with dark chocolate, rich peat smoke and creamy vanilla.
