Ardbeg Grooves is a limited edition Islay single malt released for Ardbeg Day 2018, bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Part of the whisky matured in red wine casks that were so heavily charred they left grooves in the wood. Its logo is inspired by the 1960s and the idea of 'Peat and Love'.
The nose has smoked cinnamon, paprika, antique leather, saddle soap, pine resin, tar and sea spray, with a distant bonfire and a savoury note like chilli-seasoned meats. The palate is salty, with treacle toffee, vanilla popcorn, salted peaches, soot, smoky barbecue and smoked pear. The finish is smoked paprika and bonfires with a mellow sweetness.
