Ardbeg – Heavy Vapours Committee Release

This is an Islay single malt from Ardbeg, created to mark Ardbeg Day 2023 and bottled at cask strength for the Ardbeg Committee. It is a limited edition. Dr Bill Lumsden led the experiment behind it: the purifier was removed from the still, so heavier vapours passed through during distillation. The result shifts the balance away from the distillery's usual fruit-forward profile and towards a smokier one. The nose is earthy tar, dark chocolate cream and smoked artichoke. On the palate come bittersweet burnt wood, warming spice, coffee, eucalyptus and dense peat smoke.
