Ardbeg Scorch is a single malt from Islay, released for Ardbeg Day in 2021 as a limited edition.
It was matured in deeply charred ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 46% ABV. The charring gives it a smoky profile in the Ardbeg tradition.
The nose is deeply smoky, with charcoal, toasted hazelnut, lemon peel and vanilla, plus hints of banana chocolate and sweet peach. The palate carries on the charred wood theme with slight bitterness balanced by vanilla and cinnamon, then sea salt, iodine, scorched sage and nuts. The finish is long, with cigarette ash, tar, black pepper and rubber.
